about
This is a song that I wrote taking the bus home from work one day. I remember tapping my T card, grabbing a seat, and coming to the stark realization that I am one of only a fortunate few who can afford such a luxury. So many others are bound by both real and social-political walls of their community. As governor Patrick puts it, "everything is broken," including "the sidewalks." This poignant image so clearly exemplifies the fact that the rest of the world continues to move forward while so many in these struggling communities are left behind, with no chance for upward mobility or success.
lyrics
I am waiting for a bus,
That I know won't come,
I want a chance,
I am tired of these broken sidewalks,
Sidewalks.
Middle man,
On the factory line,
Making something,
For someone,
I don't know what it is,
I just grab it,
Put it back,
And do it again,
Ya do it again.
I am waiting for a bus,
That I know won't come,
I want a chance,
I am tired of these broken sidewalks,
Sidewalks.
